Feathers

Feathers is a dance theatre performance created by Sandrine Monin that incudes sighted and partially sighted performers and is aimed at sighted and partially sighted audiences. Created out of a collaborative process between professional dancers and the project participants, Feathers aims to both capture embodied experiences of sight loss as well as create opportunities for celebrating the joy of movement and moving with others. The use of echome has been central to the workshops and rehearsals out of which the performance has been created. Reflective discussions throughout the project as well as an independent evaluation report, suggests that when  echome is used by people with visual impairment, the creation of sound through movement is instrumental in enabling them to shift their relation to space and increase their confidence in ‘taking’ space.
